Anyway they are clean now and static can easily be discharged. On to the turntable they went and I have never seen dust home in on records quite like it. When eventually they began moving from their sleeves I could hear the sparks of static electricity. At first they didn't want to come out of the inner sleeves, such was the vacuum. Pressing quality is very high, although my records had picked up quite a static charge somehow. Sure there are a few time-wasting moments but as this is a double album at a near single album price I am not complaining. An audience who just enjoys uplifting music.
This is just very good, well-recorded music to satisfy a wide audience. It isn't the type of music to satisfy the deep thinking chin-stroking fraternity. The music is a bit of a journey through the decades. I don't think the master recording went through a compressor and limiter three times in this case. The dynamic range is wide by modern standards. It is obvious that a great deal of care has been taken at the mixing and mastering stage. I haven't heard a huge amount of 21st century releases but it is entirely believable. Widely regarded by Audiophiles as being one of the best recordings so far this century. Not a lot more expensive than most single LPs. I've even turned a few seasoned rockers onto it by telling them that it's modern day Prog :-) I'd say that there's much to enjoy for most music fans on this great album. It gets better with every play and I'd recommend it to anyone who is an open-minded music lover. It's quite a loud cut so there is a little noise on the run in and between tracks when played at decent volume, however the music itself sounds like it's in 3D compared to the cd. The first copy I got didn't sound too great so I sent it back. After a few more plays it became a firm favourite and one of those albums I always play in its entirety.Īs I am not really a fan of vinyl over two discs I vowed never to buy the record as the cd sounded so brilliant anyway. On first play I was intrigued- especially by the tracks GIORGIO by Moroder and Touch. I bought Da Funk when it came out and bought all the albums from Homework onwards on cd.Īfter hearing Get Lucky which is a great happy song and Lose Yourself To Dance (both featuring Nile Rodgers and Pharell) which is probably my least favourite track on the album now, I didn't exactly make a beeline to purchase.Ībout a year after release I got it cheap on CD.
